The Langham

The Langham is a 5 star luxury Urban Resort Hotel for Langham Hotels and AWJ. The hotel commands a breath-taking location on the beach front at Surfers Paradise with extensive views up and down the coast and to the hinterland. Interiors include ballroom, restaurants, spa, pool, function areas and meeting rooms, Guest suites, kids play area, outdoor bar, staff facilities, BOH areas and serviced residential apartment foyer.

PTW provided interior design and architectural services from concept design through to documentation. Through our internationally renowned expertise we provided a beautifully resolved design that embraces all aspects of hotel and hospitality design – constantly seeking out new ideas reflective of its location and context to elevate the guest experience.

The client brief was for an urban retreat. The design was inspired by local ‘Queenslander’ architecture, referencing the delicacy of timber and ironwork detailing and characterised by a light breezy style. Both the design and materiality give a nod to the sub-tropical climate and superb beach location whilst maintaining the signature elements and quality that identify the hotel as a Langham hotel.

The interiors embody serene and elegant sophistication whilst acknowledging the traditional Queenslander detailing. Inspiration for materiality is drawn from the soft hues and muted colours of driftwood, sand, shells and the shimmering clear aqua surf.
